Travel to Thailand at the end of the year.

Travel to Thailand at the end of the year.

Even though Thailand is famous for its tropical weather and stunning beaches that are perfect for the summer, but actually there is a lot more to see besides the beaches. While every month can offer a delightful experience in Thailand, the ideal timing depends on the purpose of your visit. If you travel on a budget, consider a visit during the low season (May to September). During this period, flights and accommodations are often discounted. For those seeking to explore the Thai countryside and its landscape, the period from October to January is perfect for that, featuring cooler temperatures and captivating scenery at its finest. Lastly, the period from December to April is suitable for those whose goal is just to stay and explore beaches but be warned that it is a high season, and there will be quite crowded. Thailand’s climate exhibits regional variations and each season offers unique experiences. Here is a breakdown of the different periods to help you decide when is the best for you:

The Green Season in Thailand.

Also known as the rainy season or low season, the green season usually brings regular rainfall, especially in July and August. However, the rains are often short-period and can provide relief from the heat. The landscapes are lush and beautiful during this time and you can enjoy cheaper, fewer crowds and better availability of accommodations. If you’re interested in exploring cultural sites, visiting cities like Bangkok or Ayutthaya can still be rewarding.

Where to Go and What Not to Miss.

Pai

Pai is one of the best destinations to visit during the rainy season. Its high latitude makes it cooler than Bangkok. The rains bring nature to full-blown and bloom. You can revel in the lush greenery of the mountains. But don’t forget to grab some medicines for the oncoming motion sickness because you will definitely get sick on these serpentine roads.

Location  : Pai District, Mae Hong Son, Thailand

Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya is renowned for its temple ruins and historical sites. Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage, is a good place to visit if you are interested to learn about Thai culture and history. Thanks to the rain, you can walk around and sightseeing without having to deal with the heat. Note to self that Ayutthaya Historical Park has a modest dress code which means you have to wear clothes that cover your shoulder and knees. This goes for both men and women.

Location  : Ayutthaya Historical Park Office, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thailand

Bangkok

Even though it is a rainy season, but it rarely rains all day, mostly 2-3 hours a day and mostly in the evening. Rain or shine, famous attractions such as the Grand Palace and Wat Arun still can be visited.  Besides, if it’s raining, you can go shopping or get a Thai massage/spa treatment. Noted: same as Ayutthaya, to enter The Grand Palace and Wat Arun, you must wear clothes that cover your shoulder and knees.

Location  : The Grand Palace, Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok, Thailand

Location  : Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan, Bangkok Yai, Bangkok, Thailand

The Cool Season in Thailand.

This is considered the peak tourist season, with high temperatures and less rainfall, making it an excellent time for sunbathing, swimming, and water activities. It is a perfect time to explore popular tourist destinations like the islands in Phuket and Krabi. However, keep in mind that these destinations can get crowded, especially November-February during the Christmas, New Year holidays and Valentine's Day.

Where to Go and What Not to Miss.

Railay Beach

The beach is divided into three parts, each boasting its own unique features. Railay Beach West is encircled by towering limestone cliffs, creating a fine enclave for swimming and watching sunsets. Railay Beach East, on the other hand, is famous among adventurers for its limestone cliff, which provides a perfect spot for rock climbing.  Lastly, Phra Nang Cave Beach, which is held by Phra Nang Cave. Inside there is a shrine of Phra Nang that local sailors respect and worship.

Location  : Railay Beach, Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand

Koh Samui

Koh Samui, the third largest island in Thailand. The island offers an array of beaches and activities that make it impossible to fully embrace everything in just a day. Other than its stunning beaches like Chaweng, Lamai, and Natien, the island is also full of history and culture.

Location  : Koh Samui, Ko Samui District, Surat Thani, Thailand

Phuket

Phuket is one of the cities that has it all. Apart from its beautiful beaches, delicious foods, adventurous activities and amazing nightlife, Phuket is also known for its culture and temples. You can see it through the city, especially the Old Town.

Location  : Old Phuket Town, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket, Thailand

Ultimately, the best time to travel to Thailand relies on your personal preferences, desired activities and tolerance for crowds and weather conditions. Consider the factors mentioned above and choose a time that aligns with your interests and priorities for the a remarkable journey throughout Thailand.
